Welcome to the home of the Virginia Military Institute branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The IEEE, orginally founded as the Institute of Radio Engineers in 1884, is dedicated to encouraging development and sharing of the technological andvancements made by all electrical and electronic engineers. With over 365,000 members in more than 150 countries, the IEEE is a truly global organization, bringing together diverse new ideas and ways of thinking from engineers around the world.
By utilizing the collective knowledge of all the world's electrical and computer engineers, the IEEE leads the technological world in such areas as aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications, biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics. With its vast member base and with all of the information accumulated over the years,the IEEE is an invaluable source of information and contacts for new and experienced engineers alike.
To ensure proper creation of tomorrow's technology, the IEEE focuses on the engineering students of today. By creating local student branches, such as the VMI branch, new students gain an interest in the engineering world in a creative and supportive environment.
